DCH's ICU position is also a cause for concern, as 25 of the system's 34 ICU patients are receiving treatment on ventilators. That number is up slightly from yesterday, as Patch previously reported, when numbers showed more patients on ventilators this week than any other time during the pandemic.

Friday's coronavirus hospitalization data from DCH Health System

As hospitalization numbers continue to trend up, the number of those receiving inpatient care who have not been vaccinated remains at approximately 90%.

Over the last two weeks, a total of 29 patients have died at DCH after testing positive for the coronavirus. It is unclear how many of these are Tuscaloosa County residents.

In a spot of positive news, DCH said it surpassed 70,000 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine administered on Aug. 25. This comes as the hospital is now offering a third booster dose for certain individuals.
