As Patch previously reported, Staley — the longtime soccer coach at the University of Alabama —retired from TTS last summer and launched SNAP Sports Tourism Consulting in June 2022 after he moved to Leesburg, Florida.

Staley announced this week that after 18 months in Florida, he would be relocating SNAP to Northport, which is actively working on building out a new youth sports tournament complex at Kentuck Park, along with pursuing a proposed water park on McFarland Boulevard and an adventure sports park on Rose Boulevard.

“I’ve come to the realization Alabama will always be our home and have begun the process of relocation back to a place we’ve lived & loved for over 30 years," Staley said. “I started my sports tourism career here and look forward to ending it here. This is the opportunity of a lifetime to return home and finish what I started before the tornado in 2011 and again in 2017 when I returned from Foley."

Staley went on to cite his work on a $32 million sports tourism complex in Foley and said the project is similar to those currently underway in Northport.

"The leadership in Northport, Alabama has been steadfast in building first-class facilities like so many other cities around the southeast and in Alabama, so I look forward to supporting those initiatives that will help provide local area residents top-notch facilities while creating significant ROI from the ever-expanding tournament travel sector."
