"It’s been a few months since our last update on Ginuwine, pony escape artist and the Therapeutic Riding of Tuscaloosa’s latest mascot," Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox said in his weekly Mayor's Minute newsletter. "I am excited to share that Ginuwine has made it big in our latest 311 campaign."

Maddox went on to say the commercial is the first in a series for the city's new 311 campaign, which will launch next week.

As Patch previously reported, Tuscaloosa Police officers responded in late March to the call of a runaway pony in the area of 30th Avenue East and First Street East in Alberta.

Dubbed "Ginuwine" by the responding officers, the small horse reportedly led three TPD officers on a "low-speed foot pursuit."

This saw the officers left with no choice but to follow the pony up and down driveways and through backyards for nearly two hours before finally subduing him.

As it would turn out, the pony's given name was Knight and he is approximately four years old.

Therapeutic Riding of Tuscaloosa (TROT) has cared for the horse ever since at its farm in Cottondale and has since developed Ginuwine as the nonprofit's official mascot. At the farm, TROT offers riding lessons as therapy for children and adults with disabilities.
