TUSCALOOSA, AL — A Moundville woman has been charged with practicing medicine without a license at a clinic in Tuscaloosa.

The Tuscaloosa Police Department said on Wednesday that investigators Ellory Kate Johnson, 31, of Moundville, for practicing medicine or osteopathy without a license and attempt to commit a controlled substances crime.

TPD says the investigation is ongoing, with additional charges against Johnson and other individuals possible.
The investigation began when TPD was notified Saturday that Johnson might be practicing medicine without a license at MentorUp Life Lab & Clinic — located at 535 Jack Warner Parkway NE Ste. G2.

As part of the investigation, TPD's Criminal Investigations Division spoke with a patient who had been prescribed a weight loss medication by Johnson.
Investigators then conducted a search of the clinic Tuesday.
TPD said Johnson was interviewed and arrested on both felony charges Tuesday afternoon.
Johnson was transported to the Tuscaloosa County Jail, where her bond was set at $30,000 — $15,000 for each charge.
What's more, investigators are also asking anyone who has been treated at the clinic in question to contact (205) 248-4520, due to being potential witnesses in the case.
