Nick Saban Responds After MSU Coach Mike Leach Hospitalized

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The college football world continues to hold its breath for updates regarding Mississippi State football coach Mike Leach, who has been hospitalized after the university said he suffered a "personal health issue" at his home in Starkville sometime Sunday.

In an update on Monday, MSU said Leach remains in critical condition at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, with the school saying that was the extent of information the university has available at this point.

Leach is a polarizing figure in the college football world, but one with legions of fans that include the coaches he competes against.

Alabama head football coach Nick Saban released a statement on Monday, saying: "Our thoughts and prayers are with Mike Leach, his wife Sharon, their family and the doctors treating him. Mike's infectious personality and passion for the game have impacted the sport. In so many positive ways during his career."

MSU said it will continue practice for the ReliaQuest Bowl in Tampa against the Illinois Fighting Illini, with MSU Defensive Coordinator Zach Arnett named interim head coach in the lead-up to the Jan. 2, 2023 contest.
