The residential development was met with substantial pushback from residents of the area, who showed out in force during the last meeting of the city's Planning and Zoning Commission earlier this month to express their opposition to the proposed subdivision.
The measure ultimately failed to net a favorable recommendation from the advisory board that evening, by a 3-2 vote against from the Commission. It was passed on to the full Council for a first reading on Monday, Jan. 3, 2022.

The first reading is part of the normal protocol for ordinances of a permanent nature and will not see any action taken by the Council Monday night.
Opposition for the project mainly focused on the usual topics for longtime residents, such as traffic concerns, stormwater infrastructure, property values and more. Above all, though, the prevailing sentiment was staunch opposition to such a large-scale development for those in the area who enjoy the quiet of their streets.
