Northport Man Arrested For December Credit Union Robbery

A Northport man was taken into custody Wednesday and charged in connection to an armed robbery at Alabama ONE in December.

NORTHPORT, AL — Police have arrested a Northport man in connection to a robbery at Alabama ONE Credit Union on McFarland Boulevard on Dec. 21, 2020. The Northport Police Department says 42-year-old Michael Kelvin Thomas was taken into custody Wednesday with assistance from the U.S. Marshal Task Force and charged with a single count of first degree robbery.

Thomas was booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail and his bond is set at $60,000.

Patch previously reported when police said a white man entered the credit union branch, located at 1501 McFarland Boulevard in Northport, at 2:49 p.m. on Dec. 21 and slipped a teller a note, before leaving on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

Security footage showed the suspect wearing a black cap with a yellow bill, a red shirt, a black jacket, blue jeans, work boots and a face-covering.
