"We were able to take California Underground over about a year ago because it was our favorite place," the owners said on Facebook. "We have enjoyed the support of those we know, made many friends, and enjoyed working with staff old and new."
As a way to thank the pizzeria's longtime supporters, the owners said it is offering 15% off all pizzas and calzones on Saturday. The owners said they plan to be at the location until the business runs out of cheese and dough.

As Patch reported last summer, the restaurant was purchased by Northport residents Rusty and Lesley Selman and reopened last September under the same brand, while offering many of the same favorites.
Originally opened as Chicago Pizza more than two decades ago, the California Underground brand traces its origins to a change in ownership in December 2003 when it was purchased by Eo Martin, shortly after the Winn-Dixie shopping center first opened. Despite different owners since then, the brand has maintained and proven a lasting favorite for pizza lovers in Northport with its made-from-scratch dough and fresh toppings.
