Northside High Grad Named Interim Volleyball Coach At Stillman College
Stillman College on Friday announced that women's volleyball volunteer assistant Emiley Madison has been elevated to interim head coach.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Stillman College on Friday announced that women's volleyball volunteer assistant Emiley Madison has been elevated to interim head coach after the resignation of Joel Penfield.

Penfield has been splitting time coaching both softball and volleyball at Stillman and opted to step down from volleyball to focus his full attention on the softball program.

"I'd like to thank [Athletic Director Terrance] Whittle and the Stillman administration for trusting me to take over the program this year, and supporting this decision to step aside," Penfield said. "For the betterment of my health and both programs, I thought it was best to step aside now and let Coach Emiley take over. I will continue to support Stillman College Volleyball as the season progresses."
Madison has been a volunteer assistant coach for Stillman College volleyball through its first eight matches — all of which have been loses.

Madison is a former student-athlete at Northside High School and a resident of Coker. She has also been involved with club volleyball in the area throughout the last decade.
"I am very excited for this opportunity at Stillman," Madison said. "I look forward to working with these talented ladies and helping build a program that young girls are interested in coming to Stillman to participate in."
Stillman College volleyball (0-8, 0-7 SSAC) is set to host William Carey University and Loyola University this weekend on Friday, Sept. 30 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 1 at 1 p.m.
