As Patch previously reported, he was also one of the finalists who recently interviewed for the open position of Tuscaloosa County School System superintendent.

“It requires teamwork, tremendous effort and dedication to make a real difference in our students’ lives,” Madden said. “I’m ready for the challenge and with your support, together we can make it happen.”

Since becoming principal of Northside High School, Madden has overseen a series of milestones, including for the 2024–25 school year when Northside’s Alabama A–F Report Card score rose from 77 to 88. This marked the highest score in the school’s history.

In the 2025–26 school year, Northside was named one of nine schools statewide to receive the Alabama Attorney General's Office Safe School Award.

Madden also pointed out that the school was named a member of the A+ College Ready Cohort 19 earlier this week.

He said this competitive statewide program brings more than $200,000 in grant funding over three years to support Advanced Placement and advanced-level coursework, teacher training and student incentives.

Patch previously reported that Madden was hired as Northside High School’s principal in 2024 after serving as principal of Russellville High School, his alma mater, beginning in 2022.

A 1993 graduate of Russellville High School, Madden began his college education at Northwest-Shoals Community College before transferring to the University of North Alabama.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from UNA and later completed master’s and doctoral degrees in educational administration at the University of Alabama.

He and his wife, Dwan, have two sons: Logan and Luke.

Party primaries for the Fayette County superintendent’s race will held on May 19, 2026.
