Self-Defense Claimed, No Arrests After UA Student Stabbed During Fight Monday
The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit is investigating an early morning fight that left one person with minor injuries after being stabbed.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Investigators with the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit said a physical altercation between two University of Alabama students early Monday morning on the UA campus is believed to have resulted in minor injuries for one person who was stabbed or cut.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the multiagency unit, said the University of Alabama Police Department contacted VCU investigators at approximately 3 a.m. Monday morning on the initial call.

Kennedy said both of the students and several witnesses were eventually located and interviewed.
"Issues of self-defense were claimed in this case, and at this time, no arrests have been made," Kennedy said. "The case will be presented to a grand jury for an evaluation of any appropriate charges."

Kennedy went on to say that since there had been no arrests made, the subjects involved would not be identified at this time.
