TPL Weaver Bolden Branch to Host 3rd Annual Black History Celebration
TPL's Weaver-Bolden Branch is gearing up to host its third annual Black History Celebration on Saturday, Feb. 21.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Public Library’s Weaver-Bolden Branch is gearing up to host its third annual Black History Celebration on Saturday, Feb. 21.

The event will feature youth performances, guest speakers and local vendors in a free community event.

The celebration will be themed “A Century of Black History Commemorations” and will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Weaver-Bolden Branch Library and the adjoining McKenzie Court Community Center.
Organizers said the event honors African-American achievement, resilience and community impact while offering activities for all ages.

The Tuscaloosa Public Library says the program will include the debut performance of Voices on the Move, a City of Tuscaloosa youth ensemble directed by Porsha Ray of Porsha Ray Studios, along with a percussion performance by Drum Nation, led by Phillip Craig.
Featured speakers will include McKinley Hatcher, a UA alumnus and enterprise solutions director at CBRE who recently received an “18 Under 31 Young Alumni Award,” and LeAnna Roberts, a UAB Heersink School of Medicine student who earned three degrees by age 16.
Admission is free and open to the public.
