Tropical Storm Fred Regains Strength: What To Know In Tuscaloosa
Here's the latest as Tropical Storm Fred approaches the Alabama Gulf Coast, bringing potential impacts to much of the state.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tropical Storm Fred has re-developed over the southeastern Gulf of Mexico after weakening to a tropical depression. Tropical Storm Warnings are now being issued for a portion of the northern Gulf Coast ahead of additional advisories and warnings as Fred makes landfall, according to the National Hurricane Center.
By the latest forecast, Tropical Storm Fred is expected to bring impacts to the Alabama Gulf Coast beginning in the early morning hours Monday, while Tuscaloosa can expect a likelihood of rain and thunderstorms through the beginning of the week as the storm moves inland.
The primary concern for West Alabama will be flash flooding, as seen as recently as June 19 when Tropical Storm Claudette spurred flooding that destroyed several homes and caused millions of dollars in residential and infrastructure damage.
