The finishing touches are being put on exterior improvements to the Northport Civic Center and City Hall this week, after several weeks of work.

- A longtime culinary fixture near the University of Alabama campus is now the latest restaurant closure in Tuscaloosa after Surin of Thailand announced on Monday that it had closed its doors for the last time. (More on Patch)
- After cancelling what was supposed to be the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater's return to live music in early June, country star Jon Pardi has rescheduled his Tuscaloosa for Nov. 4. (More on Patch)
- DCH Health System reported a total of 138 coronavirus positive inpatients on Monday, with 30 patients receiving care in the system's ICUs. This came on the same day that Alabama public health officials reported statewide ICU space was nearly maxed out. (More on Patch)
- The City of Northport took the next step in the most ambitious street-paving project in the city's history on Monday as it awarded a bid for ST Bunn Construction to serve as contractor on the long list of resurfacing projects. The low bid came in at $2.4 million. (More on Patch)
