TUSCALOOSA, AL — Two people are dead following what investigators believe was a murder/suicide.
Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, told local media on Sunday that Tuscaloosa Police responded around 2:15 a.m. to Winding Creek Apartments at 6082 Old Greensboro Road on a domestic disturbance.
Kennedy said several witnesses reported a man and women were engaged in some type of domestic altercation, both inside and outside of their apartment.

“Officers arrived on scene to find both individuals inside their apartment, and both were deceased from gunshot wounds,” Kennedy said. “The Violent Crimes Unit assumed the case. It was found that the couple was married.”
Kennedy went on to say that physical evidence, coupled with witness statements showed that the husband shot and killed his wife, Bernice Etienne Walker, 24, before turning the gun on himself.

The husband was also identified as Devin Levon Walker, 24.
“This is a tragic example of domestic violence,” Kennedy said. “We ask for the privacy of the victim’s family at this time. Although there are no outstanding suspects at this time, the case will still be investigated to the same standards as every other case the VCU works.”
Kennedy said the suspect had no criminal history.
