Two Teen Sex Trafficking Victims Rescued From Tuscaloosa Hotel Wednesday
Two teenage victims of sex trafficking have been returned to their families after they called Tuscaloosa Police to ask for help Wednesday.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The West Alabama Human Trafficking Task Force on Thursday said that two teenage victims of sex trafficking have been returned to their families after they called Tuscaloosa Police to ask for help Wednesday.

Captain Phil Simpson, commander of the unit, said the two female victims — ages 15 and 18 — called police from a Tuscaloosa hotel room requesting help returning to their homes in another state.

Simpson said investigators responded and determined they were indeed victims of sex trafficking, which prompted police to contact representatives from victim advocacy group Trafficking Hope.
“They were able to provide comfort care and assistance while we worked with other agencies to reunite them with their families,” Simpson said.

He then thanked other agencies, particularly from Mississippi, including Gulfport, Hattiesburg and Meridian, in addition to TPD’s Cyber Intelligence Unit.
The Task Force said no arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
