University of Alabama System Launches COVID-19 Dashboard

The University of Alabama System on Monday released new virus testing data showing numbers for students and staff across the system

TUSCALOOSA, AL. — Additional COVID-19 testing data is now available from the University of Alabama System after a new online dashboard went live on Monday. With more than 40,000 students tested across the three-university system ahead of the fall semester, the new data includes COVID-19 case numbers from the University of Alabama's Tuscaloosa campus, University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH).

The entire system reported 566 total COVID-19 cases for its cumulative total, including faculty, students and staff, with 531 identified on the Tuscaloosa campus. Conversely, UAB reported only six cases on its campus when the dashboard launched. UAH reported eight cumulative cases Monday.

The new data also showed 21 cumulative cases for UAB Clinical Enterprise Employees.

In terms of student entry testing, UA reported 29,938 tests conducted on the Tuscaloosa campus, followed by 10,272 at UAB and 5,940 at UAH.

The dashboard also gives a breakdown of isolation space at each of the three schools, reporting 0% occupancy at UAB, 15.4% at UAH and 19.78% at UA in Tuscaloosa

The UA System also says data on sentinel testing, which will include students, faculty and staff randomly selected to voluntarily participate in COVID-19 testing, will be available on the dashboard in the coming weeks.
