UWA's Woodruff Earns Back-To-Back GSC Coach Of The Year Honors

LIVINGSTON, AL — West Alabama men's basketball head coach Nick Woodruff has been named the Gulf South Conference Coach of the Year, after leading the Tigers to a GSC Regular Season Co-Championship last Saturday.

Along with Woodruff's honor, Bolton, Mississippi native Shardarrion Allen was also named First Team All-GSC.

UWA finished the regular season with a 23-5 overall record and went 19-5 in conference play, which was good enough to secure the No. 2 seed in the GSC Championship Tournament.
After defeating No. 7 seed Union 84-73 in the first round of the tournament, the Tigers will advance to the semifinals round to take on No. 3 seed Lee University on Saturday at Pete Hanna Center in Birmingham.

Woodruff is the fifth UWA men's basketball coach to receive the GSC Coach of the Year award and only the second head coach ever to receive back-to-back honors — winning the honor in both of his two seasons in Livingston.
