• Crews search for missing man after boat overturns on Kasilof River (adn.com) — Search crews based out of Soldotna are back on the Kasilof River Monday, looking for a 67-year-old Kasilof man whose boat overturned Sunday. Alaska Wildlife Troopers, State Parks rangers, Central Emergency Services, and a helicopter from Anchorage are all involved as the intensive ground and water search continues.
   

• How a friend and a blackout saved a hunter from a bear attack (themarysue.com) — A Soldotna-area hunter survived a terrifying brown bear charge near the Killey River with only bruises and a scratched shoulder after blacking out during the attack. His friend drove the bear off with pistol shots, and wildlife officers later warned that an injured bear in the area could be especially dangerous if hunters return.
