Scottsdale police chief says city would be 'less safe' if Flock cameras go away (abc15.com) — Scottsdale's police chief is urging city leaders to keep the city's 85 Flock license-plate reader cameras, arguing they're crucial for solving crimes and finding missing people as the council reviews the program. He stresses the system doesn't use facial recognition, supports audits and possible shorter data retention, and notes Scottsdale is drafting stricter safeguards and penalties for any misuse.
2. Scottsdale School Board votes to close two schools at end of school year (abc15.com) — Scottsdale families at Laguna and Copper Ridge schools are facing closures after the Scottsdale School Board voted 3–2 to shut both campuses at the end of this school year. Following weeks of emotional testimony and an Open Meeting Law warning from the county attorney, parents now must decide whether to stay in the district or move children to charter or private schools.

Things To Do Around the Valley This Week (October 6-11) (phoenixmag.com) — Scottsdale residents have a full slate of things to do this week, from Desert Design Week events spread across Phoenix and Scottsdale to Scottsdale Fashion Week's runway shows and workshops. Arizona resorts nab 8 of 12 best in region wins, including No. 1 spot (azcentral.com) — Several Scottsdale resorts, including the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess and Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North, earned top spots in Conde Nast Traveler's 2026 Readers' Choice Awards for Southwestern resorts. Arizona properties dominated the list overall, with Wickenburg's Ranchos de los Caballeros taking No. 1 and Scottsdale standouts recognized for luxury amenities, spas, and desert views that many local residents already know well.
5. Patriot Pack Announces 16th Anniversary Reunion and Final Celebration of Its Motorcycle-Ride Legacy • The Imaging Channel (theimagingchannel.com) — The Patriot Pack is planning a 16th-anniversary reunion at the McCormick Ranch Hotel in Scottsdale on February 28, 2027, inviting past riders, sponsors, and friends. Over 16 years, the motorcycle rides have raised funds for veterans, cancer support, and families in need nationwide. Although the rides are ending, the group's charitable mission will continue beyond the celebration.
