I tried a spooky new Arizona haunted house. 1 thing was missing (azcentral.com) — Fear Farm has relocated to a large lot in Scottsdale and is rolling out a new Jason Universe: Survive the Night haunted experience for the 2026 Halloween season. The attraction now features four themed haunted houses, a corn maze, scare zones, rides, and classic fair food. You can visit at 1475 N. McClintock Drive on select nights Sept. 19–Nov. 14, with tickets starting at $24.99.
2. Scottsdale school board votes to close Laguna Prep, parents vow to make final year count (abc15.com) — Scottsdale families at Laguna Elementary are reeling after the Scottsdale School Board voted 3-2 to close Laguna and Copper Ridge at the end of this school year, shifting hundreds of students to new campuses next fall. Parents are organizing to make the final year joyful despite uncertainty about the Laguna property's future, and some are weighing leaving the district altogether. Board leaders say the closure plan saves the most money while affecting the fewest students.
3. Desert Mountain's par-3 course '7' is a great chance to chill in Arizona (centraloregondaily.com) — Scottsdale's Desert Mountain Club has added No. 7, a walkable par-3 course designed purely for fun, with short holes, creative bunkers, and a relaxed clubhouse scene. The private course complements the community's six championship layouts and uses cool-season grasses that stay playable year-round. For local golfers, it offers a lower-stress place to practice, socialize, and enjoy desert views.
4. Development of a Service-Learning Program For Scottsdale Community College (nova.edu) — Scottsdale Community College is exploring how to build a new service-learning program that would connect students with local community partners for real-world experience. The dissertation behind the effort outlines faculty-led, administrator-supported steps and stresses starting small with high-quality placements. If implemented, it could open more hands-on learning opportunities for Scottsdale students and nonprofits.
