Boots, Bangles, & Big Impact: Fountain Hills Women's Club Hosts Successful Fundraiser

The Fountain Hills Women’s Club’s annual fundraiser, held this year on February 28, proved to be another tremendous success, lassoing up a net profit of just under $30,000 for the organization’s scholarship fund. Approximately 200 guests filled the beautifully decorated ballroom at We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort for the “Boots & Bangles II” event, which repeated the popular country western theme from last year.

“Outstanding live entertainment by KC & the Moonshine Band, plus a perfect playlist by DJ Jason O’Neal, kept the dance floor packed for much of the day! Line dance instructor Pam Vaccaro led the crowd through several numbers, to the delight of both experienced and inexperienced dancers alike. Two huge screens flanked the stage, with a continuous video loop that showcased all 27 generous event sponsors, highlights from the Women’s Club’s 52-year history, photos from last year’s fundraiser, and line dancing video clips,” explained event chair Sandi McGee.

Co-chair Joanne Colella added, “It was fun to see friends lined up to pose together with the western backdrop and props, courtesy of Lisa Murray of Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty. The silent auction tables all across the back of the ballroom were bursting with 129 silent auction items on display, plus another 24 unique ‘super silent auction’ items with higher starting bids. The lucky 50/50 winner took home $1,300 from the bountiful cash raffle!”

Every table was laden with thematic centerpieces created by Jacquelina Furfaro of Skin Oasis Institute and thick programs designed by Colella Communications and produced by the Fountain Hills Theater. During the luncheon, guests were welcomed by Women’s Club President Alice Gallagher, who introduced two women who have received scholarships from the organization. Holly Delano and Marissa Flores each shared inspiring remarks about the impact that the scholarships have had on their lives.

The annual fundraiser is dedicated to supporting the Women’s Club’s mission of providing scholarships for women, age 23 or older, who either live or work in the local community. To date, the Fountain Hills Women’s Club has awarded more than $367,000 in scholarships and looks forward to presenting this year’s event proceeds to additional recipients at its May meeting.
