4 Takes: Alameda Sunset: Photo Of The Day

January provided Alameda with some amazing sunset. Here are four from different photographers.

Three of these photos were snapped over the weekend, and one was earlier this month.

ALAMEDA, CA — Alameda usually serves-up amazing sunsets, but this weekend was truly spectacular. We have three photos that were snapped over the weekend, and one from earlier this month.

This photo is from Jay Jones. Jay writes, "Took this on the Alameda base today. Excuse my motorcycle photobombing."

Steve Gorman snapped the same sunset from a kayak. Steve writes, "I took this shot this evening while kayaking with my wife on San Francisco Bay, off Alameda. We often like to go out just before sunset to catch the beautiful light on the water. The view of the sunset from the bay is unlike anywhere else, due to the expanse of water all around you. Often the wind will be at its lowest at sunset, and the seas the calmest. This can be the best time of day to be out, and we usually arrive back at the dock after dark. Winter can be the best time for kayaking in the bay area, due to the lack of fog and wind."

Claus Weisemann's sunset photo was taken exactly one week before the other three. What a difference in color!
