Alameda Girls Softball: Game Reports through April 17

A rainless week makes for great softball on the Island.

The  season is in full-swing. If you didn't catch Alameda Patch contributor Jesse Sternburg's , check it out. Below are the game reports through April 17. 

Age Six and Under

WebAssign Blue Dolphins vs. Ross, Sinclair & Associates Lucky Charms: It was a great spring day this Saturday when the Blue Dolphins made a splash hosting the Lucky Charms. Anna Kranson, Charlotte Daly and Lucy Sacco kept the fielders busy with amazing hitting. Brighid Mahoney showed her skill as a seasoned player while in the field being key to may crucial plays. Despite the early lead by the Lucky Charms, the Blue Dolphins swam up and ended the game with a tie. Good work by all!

Little House Café Little Angels vs. Wind River Bumblebees: The Bumblebees played against The Lil' Angels. Ruby Jordan showed great improvement showing great support for her teammates. She had her eye on the ball from beginning to end and was always ready for the play. Lucy Allison was struggling with a loose tooth during the game but in the end, her batting skills shined through. With the first pitch, she hit the ball far and brought her teammates home. The Bumblebees are showing great progress and this season is getting more exciting!

Harbor Bay Realty Blue Dynamite (0) vs. Coast Guard Chiefs Firecrackers (1): For the second time in the same week the Blue Dynamite found themselves facing the slow and steady Firecrackers and coming up a run shy. The Dynamite pitching team was solid at the mound and consisted of Joanna Ruiz, Katherine Legg, Kaitlyn Cassidy, and Kenna Davis. Even though the Dynamite had only 3 hits, they shined defensively with a standout play from Joanna Ruiz at 3rd base.

Bayside Specialty/Dr Johnson and Jolley Clover Dragons (1) vs. Carroll Construction Lightning Bolts (13): The bottom of the first, hits by Tori Eichel, Vivian Biczynski, RBI single by Olivia Low, Natalie Mesterhazys's triple scored two and Jordyn Moore ended the 4 run inning with a nice RBI single. Bottom second, the hits kept on coming by Chloe McMann-Chapman, Sophia Martin del Campo, borrowed player Tiana Bullock with a RBI single, and it was a multiple hits and RBI day for most of the girls. Jordyn Moore hit a triple in the fourth scoring two runs. Great pitching from Natalie Mesterhazy, Jordyn Moore and Tori Eichel. 

Age 10 and Under

Coast Guard Cutter Aspen Blue Nose Pitbulls (3) vs. Citizen Canine Black Magic (17): An overall great game for Amy Grimm, with 3 RBI's and a force out at 2nd base in the 3rd. Hazel Johnson with another great play at 2nd base to 1st base for the out. Catcher Lauren Lum and 3rd base Deanna Benedetto picked off an attempted steal to 3rd base in the bottom of the 4th. There were additional singles by Lauren Lum, Mira Piamonte and Mariah Moore.

Bay Area Children’s Theatre Purple Lightning (2) vs Dr Johnson & Jolley Royal Dragons (3): It was another close game for the Bay Area Children’s Theatre Purple Lightning. Briana St. Denis had a base hit that scored two runs early in the game. Christine Warren made a play at home tagging out the runner as she tried to score. Christine also threw to Megan Stiling for an out at third base. Ianna Morris made the long throw from third to April McCarver at first beating the Royal Dragons runner.  

Alameda Orthopedic & Sports Therapy Green Energy (1) vs. Citizen Canine Black Magic (4): Pitchers Mira and Sophia Piamonte combined for 13 strikeouts. In the 3rd inning, Mira Piamonte's double drove in 2 RBI's, scoring Isabella McCarter and Hazel Johnson. Cheyanne Rios drove in another RBI and a nice hit by Mariah Moore for a single. First base Alex Martinez had two great assists by Hazel Johnson and Amy Grimm at 2nd for outs. Brooklyn Bilstein in the outfield displayed solid defense throughout the game.

Age 14 and Under

Piedmont Semi-Aggressive Dinosaurs (7) vs Law Office of Paul Mahler/McDonalds Shoreline Hot Ice (13): A big hitting day for the Hot Ice team combined with an awesome defense held the Dinosaurs to 7 runs. Dominique Barrs had a phenomenal 6 RBI’s, Becky McEachern with 2, Lisette Perez, Valerie Sheridan, Tatiana Kelly and Meida Tautalatasi each with 1 RBI.  Singles by Annie Lynch, Bella Sheel , Becky McEachern, Ariana Verduzco and Sally Parsons.  

Hayward Black Magic (12) vs. Linda Avery PhD Flaming Cheetos (4): The Flames faced another out-of-town tournament team in Rec League play, but made a good showing.  Danielle Moyal and Cassie Lumpkin combined for consecutive putouts at 3rd to stop scoring threats.  Catcher Maura Willow sealed the plate and tagged out a runner attempting to steal home.  Victoria Avery and Alexis Esparza each smashed RBI triples, but sadly, the Hayward scored more.

Winzler & Kelly Kryptonite (4) vs. Hayward #1 (7): The Winzler & Kelly Kryptonite played a near perfect game up to the last inning in a tough loss to a seasoned Hayward team.  Elizabeth Noble led the Kryptonite on offense with a hit, an RBI and a run.  Center Fielder Margaret Pendo played a great game and saved a possible home run with a grab of a booming shot by Hayward.
