Alameda Hospital Community Health Fair: October 25
The 20th annual event takes place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Alameda Hospital, 2070 Clinton Avenue in Alameda.

Alameda Hospital, a member of Alameda Health System (AHS), a major public health care provider recognized as a world-class patient- and family-centered system of care, is hosting the 2014 Community Health Fair on Saturday October 25, 2014 in an effort to promote health and wellness. The 20th annual event, taking place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Alameda Hospital’s 2070 Clinton Avenue facility, will feature free health screenings, family-friendly activities and exhibits from community groups.
Attendees can receive a variety of free services including flu shots (14 years and older, while supplies last), blood glucose testing for diabetes, body mass index/body fat analysis, a quick look electrocardiogram (EKG), podiatry screening, and information about stroke prevention and chronic wound and skin care. Cholesterol screenings will also be available for $5, and osteoporosis screenings will be $10.
Free bike helmets will be provided to kids under the age of 12 (while supplies last), while the Alameda Police Department will be on hand to assist with proper fitting. Additional family activities include Kid Safe Photo IDs, emergency vehicles, safety and disaster information from CERT, the Alameda Fire Department’s Citizen Emergency Response Team, and healthy nutrition resources. Exhibitors will include local experts in health insurance, senior safety, healthy homes, cancer prevention and injury prevention.
