Alameda Police Arrest 2 On Multiple Charges

The Alameda residents were arrested Tuesday after they crashed a U-Haul truck, with one trying to run away through neighborhood yards.

ALAMEDA, CA — A speeding U-Haul truck caught the attention of Alameda Police officers Tuesday afternoon, around 1:30 p.m.

Before the officers could get into position to stop the truck, it crashed into a parked car in the 2600 block of Washington Street.

One of the two occupants of the truck jumped out of the truck and ran away through several residential yards. "Through effective communication and collaboration between officers and alert community members" the suspect was caught in the 1100 block of Broadway, police said in a social media post.

A 35-year-old Alameda man, with multiple outstanding felony warrants, and a 38 year-old Alameda woman were taken into custody.

Police found fentanyl and drug paraphernalia in the truck, along with animals that were shaken up but appeared to be in good health.

Police arrested the pair on suspicion of narcotics offenses and leaving the scene of a collision, in addition to the outstanding warrants.
