Alameda's Relay For Life to 'Paint Our Town Purple'

American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Alameda is "painting our town purple" on Saturday.

Purple is the signature color of Relay For Life, signifying the passion that cancer survivors and their loved ones feel in efforts to eradicate this disease. 

Relay For Life of Alameda is a 24-hour community campout that will take place on June 22-23 at Encinal High School track. It is to celebrate cancer survivors, remember those lost and fight back through education and research.

Meet at Alameda City Hall at 9 a.m. on May 4, and then decorate Park Street from Santa Clara to Encinal with purple ribbons, provide flyers and post-cards to passersby.

Bring something to carry flyers for distribution.

Make sure to wear sunscreen and dress in layers (purple layers, of course). 

If you can't join us on Park Street, you are invited to decorate your own home, business or school in purple.
