Alameda Shopper Body-Slams Suspected Shoplifter

Watch the video as the shopper tries to make a citizen's arrest, and accuses the alleged thief of driving of prices for law-abiding people.

ALAMEDA, CA — An Alameda man shot video on his cell phone Saturday of a man putting merchandise into a backpack at the South Shore Walgreens store and then walking out without paying. The video was obtained by ABC-7.

The shopper handed his phone to another person and asked him to continue shooting video, and then tried to stop the accused shoplifter from getting away.

Both the accused shoplifter and his accomplice ended up on the ground, but fled before police arrived.

The unpaid items were left behind, according to police, and Walgreens is not seeking charges in the case.
