Alameda Strong Collecting Donations

The Alameda Strong community fund was created to raise money to help small businesses, nonprofits, and renters hurt by coronavirus.

ALAMEDA, CA — Alameda restaurants already reeling from months of closures suffered a new blow Friday night when Alameda County health officials announced that outdoor restaurant dining was banned. The restaurants had purchased food, hired staff, and the city had even re-striped Park Street to create an outdoor dining venue, with plans to do the same on Webster.

Take-out and delivery are still being allowed. The county is working with the state to obtain permission for outdoor dining to resume.

This is just the latest example of what businesses are facing in this pandemic.
