Alameda Unified School District, Union Agree On Contract Details

Workers will get a $300 bonus in addition to their pay raise and other concessions.

Teachers and the school district have hammered out details of their tentative contract.

Negotiators for the Alameda Unified School District (AUSD) and the California School Employees Association Chapter 27 (CSEA 27) agreed last Thursday on salary and other contract considerations.

Under the terms of the three-year agreement, members of CSEA 27, which includes office workers and paraprofessionals, will receive an on-going 5% raise in salary starting in 2015-2016. Members will also receive a one-time bonus of $300.00. The union retains the right to re-negotiate the salary in 2017-2018 as well as open two additional articles in the contract.

The next step is for CSEA 27 members and AUSD’s Board of Education to vote on whether to ratify the agreement.

“What wonderful news it is to have two of our bargaining units sign TAs within a week,” said Superintendent Sean McPhetridge. “I am delighted to offer our office workers and paraprofessionals a much-deserved raise. I look forward to us maintaining this spirit of collaboration and mutual respect.”
