Alamedan Among Top 200 Bay to Breakers Finishers
The centennial race drew more than 43,000 runners from Alameda, the Bay Area and around the globe, and many Islanders clocked excellent times.
Matthew Eyler of Alameda finished 168th out of 43,361 runners in the 100th annual Bay to Breakers 12K race in San Francisco Sunday morning.
Eyler's 46:06 time made him the 147th man to cross the finish line and 50th among men age 20-29. Eyler was under 12 minutes off the winner's pace— 29-year-old Morrocan Ridouane Harroufi took first place with a time of 34:36.
The fastest time from a woman from Alameda was clocked by Suzette Smith, who finished 312th among the female racers (1,919th overall). She completed the run in one hour and 59 seconds, and was the 20th finisher in the 50-59 category.

Alameda's Wendy Gee finished 439th among female racers with a time of 1:2:49. She was 124th in the 20-29 age group.
Marcia Sagami was 683rd among the women, with a time of 1 hour, six minutes and one second. She was 45th in her age category, 50-59.

Erika Fong finished 702nd among female racers with a time of 1:06:09. She was 202nd in the 20-29 category. Tamara Webster was 29th in the 13-19 category and she finished the race in 1:06:41. She finished 761st overall among women racers.
John West, the second fastest male runner from Alameda, finished 286th overall with a time of 48:38. He was 50th in men's 40-49 age group.
Russell Dawson finished 400th with a time of 50:36, making him the 86th fastest runner in the men's 40-49 age category.
Alamedan Willem Knibbe finished 455th overall, had a time of 51:19 and was 107th in the 40-49 divison.
Also in the top 1,000 finishers was Steve Kniep with a time of 54:22, who was 165th in the 40-49 age group and 715th overall.
Alameda's Tim Wellman finished with a time of 55:03 was 183rd in the 40-49 age category and 801st overall.
Gregory MacDonald was 843rd overall, and completed the race in 55:22; he was 188th in the 40-49 category.
Fritz Garcia finished in 55:27, and was the 853rd overall and 218th in the ageo 30-39 category.
