Council Holds 85th Annual Meeting
The Alameda Welfare Council (AWC)
Board of Directors held their Annual Meeting on March 4, 2013 hosting a salad bar luncheon for AWC
members. The meeting featured presentations by Karen Kenney, Executive Director of Girls Inc. and Mim Carlson, Executive Director of Friends of Alameda Animal
Shelter (FAAS). Both organizations are among the local non-profits supported by the AWC.
Treasurer Sherri Price presented the AWC
2012 Annual Report highlighting $61,000 of income, an increase of $12,000 from the previous
year, affording AWC the opportunity to
distribute $40,400 to local non-profits.
Recipients for 2012 included: Girls, Inc. of The Island City, Alameda Boys and Girls Club, Alameda Food Bank, Alameda Family Services, Alameda Red Cross and
other non-profits.

AWC has no paid staff and over the last 10 years has distributed over $300,000 to help Alamedans.
Peggy Lubeck and Ronda Weber, chairpersons, of this year's AWC Annual Faire, announced that this year's
event will be held on July 31st at Rockwall Wine Company, Alameda Point.

In keeping with the spirit and synergy of the America's
Cup, the theme of this year's Faire is "Sail on Alameda".
This event is the primary fundraiser for AWC
and features various boutiques, a raffle and luncheon. Tickets will be available in May. Mark your calendars and watch for further information.
