
Marilyn York died at the age of 90 in her San Lorenzo home October 4th. 2012. She was a Navy W.A.V.E. during WWII at the Alameda Naval Air Station. Marilyn became a “Rosie the Riveter” after the war and spent 33 years as a Journeyman Aircraft Engine Mechanic at the Rework Facility aboard the Navy base. During WWII Marilyn sold a million dollars worth of War Bonds to the aircraft and shipyard workers. After her retirement she worked hard to establish and co-founded the Alameda Naval Air Museum which is dedicated to the history of the Air Station and the Navy.
Marilyn is survived by a Brother a nephew Ron Daughery of Santa Cruz and a niece Norma Blank of Provo Utah.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1400 (2:00 PM) November 3rd. Sat. 2012 at the Naval Air Museum in Alameda. Contributions maybe made in Memory of Marilyn York to the Alameda Naval Air Museum (ANAM) 2151 Ferry Point Rd. Alameda, CA 94501
