
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Police have made an arrest in a shooting that left one person dead and four injured during an attempted robbery in San Francisco's North Beach neighborhood on Sunday night, police said Tuesday.
On Sunday at 10:58 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting at Grant and Columbus avenues. They located a man suffering from gunshot wounds who later was declared dead at the scene by medical personnel.
The San Francisco Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as 23-year-old Isaiah Thomas of Suisun City.

Officers proceeded to locate two additional people shot, both 24-year-old men from Sacramento County. The two were transported to a hospital and are expected to survive.
Prior to the officers' arrival, two other people were also transported separately to a nearby hospital and were later identified as a 20-year-old woman from Contra Costa County and 22-year-old Oakland man Malachi Lefiti.

Upon further investigation, officers determined that Thomas, Lefiti and "additional suspects" were attempting to rob the victims at gunpoint when an altercation ensued and five people were shot.
Lefiti was arrested by officers Monday and transported to San Francisco County Jail.
