Aug. 28: Highland Hospital Milk Drive

Highland Hospital is hosting a Milk Drive Aug. 28 to bring attention to milk banking.

On Aug. 28, Highland Hospital is hosting a Milk Drive to bring attention to milk banking and becoming a breast milk donor to help vulnerable babies. The event takes place at the Highland Care Pavilion, 1411 E. 31st St., Oakland, CA 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Highland Hospital (part of Alameda Health System) has long been a strong supporter of breastfeeding. Highland is designated as a “Baby Friendly” hospital, and has seen its newly discharged mothers go from exclusively breastfeeding at a rate of less than 30% to more than 70% in the last five years.

The AHS network is also the only option in the area for breastfeeding support 7 days a week, including a Sunday clinic.
