Baby's Life Saved By Alameda Police Officer
Officer Sergio Ortega was awarded a Commander's Commendation for his heroic actions.

ALAMEDA, CA — An Alameda Police Officer is credited with saving the life of a one-year-old baby. Officer Sergio Ortega was awarded a Commander’s Commendation for his decisiveness, composure, and heroic actions.
Ortega sprang into action on Aug. 30 when the police department received a call about the baby who was unresponsive and not breathing.
Two other officers were dispatched to the call, but Ortega was working on an assignment in the area and responded.

According to police, "As the first to arrive on scene, Officer Ortega assessed the situation and began rendering aid. While in Officer Ortega’s care, the child began to show signs of responsiveness. Once paramedics arrived, the child was transported to a local hospital for further medical attention."
The hero officer was awarded the Commander’s Commendation on September 26.
