On Sunday, August 30, Cafe Flamenco at Rhythmix Cultural Works presents Nuevas Tendencias, a new show by Caminos Flamencos that seamlessly blends flamenco, Latin, and jazz. Emmy award–winning Artistic Director Yaelisa gathers an eclectic group of world-class artists rooted in a variety of genres for an innovative and entertaining evening of music and dance. Under the musical direction of guitarist Jason “El Rubio” McGuire with Spanish singer Jose “El Grillo” Blanco, Paul Martin Sounder on upright bass, and Marlon Aldana on drumset and cajon, the company brings a fiery energy and an improvisational quality to the art of flamenco. Both the show and the company were nominated for a prestigious Izzie Dance Award for Best Company. Refreshing beverages and delicious paella will be available for purchase prepared by Marcos Quezada of Patatas.
