September 20, Concord, CA-The Concerned Parents and Educators of the East Bay will be holding a forum on November 7th from 7:00 to 9:00pm in the main sanctuary of Calvary Temple Church (4725 Evora Road, Concord, CA 94520) to discuss the challenges Californian children will be facing with the implementation of the Common Core State Standards this school year. The forum is free and open to all interested members of the public.

This group previously held a highly successful community forum on the Common Core in Pleasant Hill on April 29th, featuring education experts that spanned the political spectrum, now available on YouTube (“Ten Little Fingers, Common Core Debated” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQytdrRB0Qs) This time, two members of the original Common Core Validation Committee have agreed to donate their time and expertise to share their reasons why they felt they could not in good conscience sign off on the standards as they are currently written and have been imposed on 45 states of the Union, including California. Also, an experienced lawyer will discuss the legal ramifications of opting children out of invasive data collection that is part of the Common Core.
