About Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit)

The Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit) is an innovative, modern bus system owned by the people of the East Bay and governed by a seven-member, publicly elected board of directors.  We operate 151 bus lines throughout a 364-square mile service area from San Pablo Bay to Fremont, serving 1.5 million people in 13 cities and adjacent unincorporated areas in Alameda and Contra Costa counties.

AC Transit provides 178,851 rides per day, including nearly 14,000 Transbay commuters and 30,000 school bus rides.  We also provide over 700,000 paratransit trips each year to seniors and people with disabilities, in partnership with the East Bay Paratransit Consortium.

AC Transit is the East Bay’s largest transit provider and the third-largest public bus system in California.  We play a critical role in the Bay Area’s transportation network, connecting with 16 other public and private bus systems, 25 BART stations, six Amtrak stations and three ferry terminals.
