'Do Not Drink' Order Lifted In Alameda
The source of the contamination has been shut off.

ALAMEDA, CA — The California Water Resources Control Board has lifted a "Do Not Drink" order for Alameda Point that had been in place since earlier this week, City of Alameda Interim Public Works Director Liam Garland announced Friday evening.
According to a release from Garland, "Residents and businesses can now drink and cook with Alameda Point’s water. Water throughout Alameda Point’s drinking water distribution system has been deemed safe by the State Water Resources Control Board, Division of Drinking Water. This water once again matches EBMUD’s high quality water supply consistent with other areas outside of the Alameda Point water system."
Tests came back clear for bacteria on Thursday. On Friday, comprehensive tests of Alameda Point’s water system tested negative for other harmful contaminants.

Garland reports that an irrigation well was the source of the non-potable water that mixed with Alameda Point’s drinking water. It has been disconnected from the drinking water system.
Going forward, Alameda Point’s water system will continue being monitored for safety.
