An East Bay City Is Hosting The Official Super Bowl 60 Watch Party. Here's What To Know

The big game takes place in the Bay Area in just a few weeks.

OAKLAND, CA — Oakland has been selected to host this year's official NFL Super Bowl Watch Party. Here's what to know about the event.

Super Bowl 60 takes place on Sunday, Feb. 8, at Levi's Stadium, the home of the San Francisco 49ers. Leading up to the big event, the Bay Area will host a series of events for fans, from concerts to a festival and celebrity football.

But on game day, those who don't have tickets to Super Bowl 60 may be looking for a place to watch the league's top two teams battle it out. That's where Oakland comes in.

"We are here to announce two free public events on Super Bowl Sunday coming right here to Oakland," Kim Bardakian, a representative from the Oakland ayor's communications team, said during a press conference Monday. "Its a celebration about access and community and showing everything that makes Oakland special."

The events will take place at the Henry J. Kaiser Center for the Arts and start at 11 a.m.

Both events are free, but people will need to reserve a spot, especially for the watch party, which will be limited and on a first-comen first-served basis, according to organizers.

City officials say people attending the Oakland Fan Zone and Super Bowl Watch Party can expect to see the big game displayed on a large-scale screen, live music and special guest appearances, a culinary experience from local Oakland and East Bay vendors, family-friendly activities and a "vibrant festival atmosphere" that celebrates The Town's culture.

"This is the Bay Area's moment on the world stage, and let me be clear, Oakland, of course, you know we're not going to be on the sidelines, we'll be front and center," Oakland Mayor Barbara Lee also said at the press conference. "We know also that Oakland is a world-class city, we have the culture, the history, the good vibes and our people."
