ALAMEDA, CA — Alameda residents heartbroken about the destruction of the play structure in Woodstock Park over the weekend are pouring donations into a Go Fund Me account started on Tuesday. The $20,000 goal to replace the structure is within reach. Since money is going to a registered nonprofit, Friends of Alameda Park and Recreation Foundation Incorporated, donations are tax deductible.
The play structure was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. It was the second arson fire in the park that night. Police have not announced an arrest, but say they are actively investigating the case.

"This fundraiser will show the community's support by raising at least 10% of the funds needed for the new playground," the Go Fund Me appeal states. "If we raise funds by the end of August, we hope to see kids playing on it by December. Woodstock playground is used by three area schools, Nea Community Learning Center, Alameda Community Learning Center (ACLC), and the Academy of Alameda, as well as local community organizations. Area families are heartbroken, as the playground was redone just over one year ago. Let's do this Alameda!"
