Bicycling: Alameda to Amsterdam

The organization BikeAlameda is sponsoring an evening to inspire Alamedans to get on their bikes instead of in their cars.

The event feature a slide show of how people around the world use bicycles as their primary or only means of transportation. Local cyclist, Leonard Stanton, will share cycling-related photos from his travels, as well as highlights from living two years car-free with his wife, Mary, in Germany.

Other local cyclists will explain how they use their bicycles to go grocery shopping, take the kids to school, deal with weather, expand their range by combining bicycling with public transit, as well as how to help prevent bicycle theft.
