The afternoon concert will feature the Bindi Society, and world-renowned Baroque flute virtuosos Stephen Schultz and Mindy Rosenfeld of Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra.
The Bindi Society's music is inspired by an array of global traditions accentuated by a deep love of ancient languages. Haunting vocals sung in Ancient Gaelic, Sanskrit, Hebrew and English accompany classically-tinged groove harp, harmonium, world percussion, santur, marimba and kick-ass electric basshighlighting the musical talents of Barbara Imhoff, Cait McWhir and bean (Tina Blaine) with Nate Pitt.
An exotic fusion of timbres and disciplines, Bindi Society combines Celtic, Indian and Middle Eastern-style vocals with harp and world percussion. The ensemble’s instruments and voices merge to produce ethereal timbres and resonant harmonic overtones. The sound is reminiscent of Imhoff's Beasts of Paradise and Haunted by Waters, Mcwhir and Blaine's original collaboration. Stephen Schultz will dazzle and delight, demonstrating his unique method of extending his classical roots on processed baroque flute and Hümmelchen (german pipes) in solos and duets with Mindy Rosenfeld.
