Grant Fire In East Alameda County Fully Contained

The fire broke out Saturday afternoon.

Cal Fire crews fully contained the Grant Fire in eastern Alameda County on Saturday, just hours after it started.

The flames erupted in a dry, fire-prone area near the intersection of Grant Line Road and Interstate Highway 580 on Saturday just after 4 p.m.

It scorched about 21 acres before being contained at about 9:30 p.m.

No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged.

Fire crews will monitor the area in the coming days to ensure no hot spots re-ignite.

A fire in the same area in June — between the city of Tracy, in San Joaquin County, and the city of Livermore, in Alameda County — burned about 22 acres.
