Little League Game Reports Through April 15

A busy couple of weeks!

MAJORS DIVISION

Santoro's Italian Deli Pirates 4, Eyewise Optometry Athletics 2

Strong pitching 3/29/12 by Bryan Woo kept the Athletics in check going 5 2/3 innings and only giving up 4 hits with 13 strikeouts. He also had a single and scored twice. Josh Soltz led the Pirates with 2 of their 4 hits.

For the Athletics, Willie Mein smashed a towering out of the park two-run homer. Eric Fong pitched two scoreless innings and made a nice catch in center field.

The 4/12/12 game featured great pitching from both teams. Chris Webber pitched 5 innings only giving up two runs. Austin Mann led the Reds with a double and a single. 

Willie Mein of the A’s pitched two scoreless innings and had an over-the-fence two-run HR. Eric Fong lead the A’s with two doubles and pitched 4 scoreless innings.

AAA DIVISION

Litho Process Hooks 6, Pappo Mudcats 5

The Hooks’ bats came alive in the 4th and 5th innings with Neil Donovan, Jackson Elliott and Max Davis each hitting key singles to the outfield. Strong base running and patience at the plate by Arvin Enkhbold gave the Hooks an edge in a very close game against the Mudcats on March 30. 

For the Mudcats, solid pitching by Eli Ottaviano and Ethan Karp helped contain the Hooks. Karp and Seamus McGuiness each had two line-drive singles.  Jackson Barnes drove a RBI double to center. Christian Collins made a terrific shoe-string catch in left field.

D20 Games River Cats 11, Feel Good Bakery Iron Pigs 6

On March 26 for the River Cats, Matthew Goode made two put-outs at first base. Michael Waldman hit a 2-run home run. Ethan Maxim hit a double and pitched two scoreless innings.

For the Iron Pigs, Tristan Good hit two triples and a double and pitched two solid innings. Megan Ina had two hits including a double. Jake Emerson added a hit and scored twice.

Sinead Smyth, L.M.F.T. Bees 2, The Feel Good Bakery Iron Pigs 3.

Keelan Good, Kobe Kiener Andrew Tandoc all pitched for the Bees. Anthony Silva had a put out at first from right field. Catcher Qorey Houston Cecaci threw out a runner stealing 2nd.

David Tuutafaiva and Tristan Good allowed only one hit and struck out 14 over 6 innings. On offense the Pigs were led by James Kapp who had 2 hits, including a double, and George Chabre who doubled.

Litho Process Hooks 8, Thirsty Bear Brewing Company Redwings 4

Aggressive base running gave the Hooks the edge in an 8 to 4 victory over the Red Wings on April 9. Auden Conway pitched a 3 up, 3 down 4th inning then stole home. Arvin Enkhbold scored twice on steals. Neil Donovan and Elias Faizi added clutch RBIs.  

For the Red Wings Jackson Rodriguez, Edgar Duchesneau and Adrian Yatsko contributed to the Red Wings offense while Liam Johnson-Sandoval, Gabriel Seidl and Spencer Kao played all-star defense.

Pappo Mudcats 7, El Agavero & Charles Target Stars 9

On 4/11 Ethan Karp doubled in 1 RBI, bottom of 5th. Ryan Crawford nearly homered, sending in 2 RBI's, but was tagged out at home plate. Kyle Arndt doubled at the bottom of the 6th, bringing the tying run to the batters box.  

For the Stars, L.J Rose started the game with a triple to the right center field gap. Among the many standout defensive plays were Nathan Dudley's catch of a fly ball in centerfield and Elexsio Pelayo's glovework at 2nd base. 

AA DIVISION

East Ocean Storm 8, TEC Electric and Orthodontic Dental Care Mudhens 7

For the Mudhens, Jerick Griego struck out six and hit two singles to drive in three runs. Sebastian Hurtubise hit two singles and scored three runs while Ellis Brandt and William Norboe scored a run each.

Andrew Jarecki gave the Storm the lead with a double and his brother Eric provided the winning margin in the top of the sixth with the score tied when he came around to score following a solid double to the fence. Miles Smith closed the game for the Storm retiring the Mudhens in order in the bottom of the sixth.

Encinal Market Bulls 11, Pearl’s Deluxe Burgers River Dogs 1

The Bulls’ Turean Bowman, Nick Yajko, Tanner Mackenzie, and Mikey McNamee all contributed hits on March 29th. Bulls shortstop Jameson Hoy caught a line drive for one out and threw to third baseman, Chris Schneider, for a double play.

The River Dogs’ E. Gardner pitched two solid innings against the Bulls, striking out five and only allowing one hit. Daniel Choi scored a run after beating out the third baseman’s throw to home plate. Shamil Youngblood made three plays in a row at second, recording three outs.

Encinal Market Bulls 7, Neptune Pearl Knights 3

Zach Hester, Mikey McNamee, Jameson Hoy and Emmitt Phinney pitched for the Bulls on 4/14. McNamee recorded 6 strikeouts. Hoy and Phinney pitched scoreless innings in the fifth. The game featured outstanding defensive plays by Bulls catcher Makaio

For the Knights, Quinn Dooley pitched a 3-up-3-down 6th inning and Gerry Maldonado snagged a laser grounder in right-center.

A DIVISION

Little House Cafe Mets 14, UPS Store #0447 (Bay Farm) Owlz 14

The Mets’ Tommy Barbey and Cohen Ruport both hit doubles March 26 and Xavier Santa Maria went three for three. David Costa made a great defensive play during the second inning. 

For the Owlz, Nicolas Ortiz, Stephanie Gutierrez, and Jacob Skuta each hit three for three. Cody Cunningham and Gordon Cunningham each had key defensive plays in the third inning.

Endocare Raptors 12, Jodi D. Snyder Psy.D. Iron Birds 7

For the Iron Birds, Henry Erwin, Izajah Ford and Zachary Zapata lead the Iron Birds late inning rally on March 29. Third baseman Caleb Brownlee made a great play in the fourth inning.

For the Raptors, Madeline Leung had 2 RBIs when she hit a double. Zakary Zimmerman caught out a batter at second base and Dylan McGrew drove home two runs with his RBI single.

Little House Cafe Mets 11, MuckDogs 5

On March 30, the Mets' Zane Bohne, Rex Weber, and Evan Chance went two for two, including a key double by Chance. Max Hernandez and Christian Belmonte teamed up for a double play in the bottom of the fourth.

Nathan Yoo had 3 hits including a double. Brando Souza and Quinn Rasmussen had 2 hits. Miles Taylor played great defense in the field for the MuckDogs.

Jodi D. Snyder Psy.D. Iron Birds 11, Roughing It Day Camp Volcanoes 3

On April 7 Caleb Brownlee led the Iron Birds with four hits and three RBIs.  Teyo Snyder-Aguigui, Christian Watkins and Izajah Ford each had three hits and several RBIs.

For the Volcanoes, Henry Mills played sharp infield defense and advanced a runner in a strong at-bat. Mateo Robles made solid contact with the ball and nicely fielded a hard-hit shot to right.

Roughing It Day Camp Volcanoes 17, Pacific Pinball Museum Grasshoppers 2

In the April 9 game, the Grasshoppers had a strong 1st and 4th inning with Michael Chun and Cian Putterman each with two hits and Curt Hennecke with one hit.

For the Volcanoes, Owen DeCourcy had two doubles, a single and two RBIs; Ryan Chang had two singles, a double and two RBIs; and Devon Casias had a triple, two singles and two RBIs.

Pacific Pinball Museum Grasshoppers 3, Harbor Bay Realty (Karin Fox) Lugnuts 2

In the game on April 12th, the Grasshoppers' Michael Chun had 2 hits, a run and a double play. Sam Meyer had 2 hits and an RBI. Cian Putterman had 2 hits, a run and an RBI and Curt Hennecke had an RBI and made 2 outs.

The Lugnuts came from behind to make it a close game behind some stellar hitting by Nicholas Rondenet and nice defense by Jake Fox at catcher and Logan Hinsburg at short.

UPS Store #0447 Owlz 9, Pacific Pinball Museum Grasshoppers 2

In the April 14th game the Grasshoppers had a strong finish with Cooper Smolin, Cian Putterman and Curt Hennecke each with 2 hits and Riley King with an RBI. Nate King made a solid play at 3rd base for an out.

For the Owlz, Michael Montes doubled, Matthew Mainguy doubled and Nicolas Oriz tripled to close out a 5 run 6 hit inning. Ezra Frary and Joseph Donovan combined for two pitcher to 1st baseman putouts. The first out was Joseph to Ezra and the second out went Ezra to Joseph.

FARM DIVISION

Monkey Bars Twins vs. Littler Mendleson DBacks

The Twins were led by stifling defense from Jonathan Tai and Kyle Reed and clutch hitting from Jeevan Mahl on April 1.

In the top of the fourth inning, DBacks Slugger James Alexander drove in a runner from second with a hard liner into the gap in right center. Pitcher Bowen Sande and First Baseman Christian Chiu combined for three outs later in the inning.

Tony’s Mobile Service Red Sox vs. West Wind Athletics

Tyler Lee made three putouts at first base for the Red Sox on April 1. Later, pitcher Nolan Nguyen made three consecutive stops on the mound and threw to first baseman Ronan Johns for the outs. Ben Reuben smacked an impressive hit to left field.

Infielder Cyrus Jones made two forced outs at third base for the A’s. Makinley Elter made a stabbing grab for the out at first. Dylan Watt made two great stops in right field. At the plate, Max Gerber hit a sharp line drive through the hole between short and third.

Shay's Café Angels vs. Kelly Lux Insurance Rays

Daniel Velichko dazzled with a double and Kai Shimp impressed with an opposite field single on April 1 for the Angels. On defense, Shaan Castro made an acrobatic catch at first, ZIggy Mintz made a strong throw to first, and Sanjay Cordova made a put-out at second.

For the Rays, Damon Smith made two put outs at first base. Maslin Couts recorded a put-out at third. Mackinley Cho and Bailey de Vries both hit impressively.

West Wind Athletics vs. Kelly Lux Insurance Rays

A’s shortstop Jacob Hirano and second baseman Will Hester made back to back put-outs on 4/15. Hester also had two hits into the outfield. Wesley Karp made a put out at third base.

For the Rays, Kelvin Joiner Jr. tripled. Kyle Skuta recorded a put out at first. Diego Ortiz showed great hustle on both sides of the ball. He also recorded a put out at third.

Alameda Beauty College Vs. Blue Dot Cafe Rockies 

On Sunday, April 1, the Rockies showed lots of hustle, led by Richard Riordan with 2 singles, and strong doubles by Haileen Jaramillo & Matthew Lee and solid fielding highlighted by Jack Hume's great glove work at shortstop.

The Rangers  had great moments with fielding by Tyler Donaldson at 2nd base and Sage Roy-Burman at 1st base. Good hitting by Payton Fare and Tyler Taylor and for the third game in a row hitting and fielding by Casey Miller.

T-BALL DIVISION

Frutti Yogi Tigers vs. Neptune Beach Pearl Pirates

The Tigers were had big hits by Cheyenne Caina, Teva Risse and Michael McKean. Defensively, the Tigers were lead by Isaiah Dumont on the mound with great plays by Alexander Kientz, Adam Sligh, and Michael Dudzinski.

Pirates newcomer Audriana Thomas led the team offensively with a base-clearing smash in the top of the second inning. Meanwhile, Jack Gonzalez showed off his defense by playing solidly at second base and pitcher, anchoring the Pirates infield.

Patterson-Golay Family Braves vs. El Caballo Wraps Mets

For the home team Braves, Tommy Going stroked a grounder to the outfield for the second hit of the game on April 1. Brady Burke led off the second with an infield grounder. Lucas Glaviano fielded a fly ball on the bounce.

For the Mets, pitcher Joshua Hoffman fielded a grounder and threw to Jennifer Proffitt at first base James Soderlund fielded the ball in the outfield and threw to first baseman Patrick DiGioacchino. 

Happy Feet Children’s Shoes Giants vs. Baskin Robbins Cardinals

For the Giants, Lucas Araujo, Evan Lachs and Isaac Ballerini showed some power with solid line-drive singles in the first inning on April 1. On defense, Surina Castro made a great infield play, and made a good throw to first base covered by Jack Johnson

The Cardinals showed drive with big hits from Dylan Mann, Henry Gerber and Calliope Crane-Brown, which advanced runners. As pitcher Robbert Fintland made several stops with throws to first base. Benjamin Caynan and Jack Busch showed infield hustle, making several key plays.

Baskin Robbins Cardinals vs. Patterson-Golay Family Braves

The Cardinals had a strong batting line up with powerful hits from Emerson DeCourcy and Tobin Schrager, which helped to advance runners. Infield leaders Christoper Bellinger, Macelo Quirk and Maggie King showed hustle throughout the game, making key plays at bases.  

For the Braves, Jonas Clevenger and Ryan McCalmont made clean plays in the first inning. Daniel Kinna led off the fourth with a strong grounder to left field, while Brady Burke ran the bases with precision.

Happy Feet Children's Shoes Giants vs. Neptune Beach Pearl Pirates

On Sunday, April 15 for the Giants, Charlie Norton, Lucas Araujo and Issac Ballerini showed power with solid hits. On defense, Surina Castro and Evan Lachs made great ground ball plays and throws to first.

For the Pirates  Kelvin and Maxwell Stuart showed strong teamwork in the outfield and defensively. Meanwhile John Teti rocketed a hit past the pitcher, shortstop and into the outfield to spearhead the offense.
