Man Arrested For Attempted Vehicle Theft And Brandishing A Weapon
The crime happened back in August. The man was detained in Oakland, and police there notified Alameda Police.

ALAMEDA, CA — An Alameda man is facing charges in both Alameda and Oakland following alleged offenses in both cities and his arrest in Oakland. The suspect's name has not been released.
On August 26, officers responded to the 1100 block of College Avenue at 5:45 p.m. on a report of an attempted vehicle theft involving a gun.
Officers were told that witnesses saw what was happening and began filming the crime. The theft was not unsuccessful, possibly because of a steering wheel lock.
As the suspect was leaving the scene, they pointed a gun at one of the witnesses. The images from then circulated online.
An Alameda Police supervisor recognized the suspect as an Alameda resident. Investigators obtained an arrest warrant.
Earlier this month, the Oakland Police Department notified APD that the suspect was taken into custody for a vehicle-related crime in their city. "APD officers responded to the scene and formally arrested the individual in connection with the Alameda case."
The Alameda Police Department offers these tips to protect you and your property:
• Install an anti-theft device.
• Use your car alarm.
• When possible, park in well-lit areas within view of your security camera system.
• Install a dash camera with a motion sensor that can notify you of an in-progress theft or record the license plate of the getaway car.
• Draw attention to your vehicle by activating your car's alarm from a safe distance. Other witnesses may become alert and provide additional details to investigators.
• Be a good witness and call 9-1-1. Never attempt to intervene. Your safety is of the utmost importance.
