'Mini-Quakes' Near Orinda This Morning

A magnitude 2.0 earthquake struck about two miles northwest of Orinda at 9:12 a.m. today, Wednesday, according to the U.s. Geological Survey.

The USGS said the quake was at a depth of 4.3 miles.

Only two people had reported feeling the quake by 9:30 a.m., according to the USGS "Did You Feel It?" page.

An even smaller temblor, magnitude 1.4, was reported at about the same location about a half hour earlier, at 8:43 a.m.

They are the latest in a recent series of small and "micro" earthquakes in the East Bay.
