Niles Fire 100 Percent Contained
The fire started Wednesday and forced road closures during the evening commute.

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA — The 20-acre Niles Fire, which had been burning in unincorporated
Alameda County near Fremont since Wednesday afternoon, was declared 100 percent contained Sunday night, the Alameda County Fire Department said.
The fire started Wednesday in Niles Canyon near the intersection of state Highway 84 (Niles Canyon Road) and Palomares Road, about two miles east of the Niles neighborhood of Fremont.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation as of Sunday night.
