One Killed When Vehicle Plunges Into Water

Crews from Alameda Fire Department assisted in the water rescue.

ALAMEDA, CA — One person died after a taxi crashed into the water off Doolittle Drive on Bay Farm Island Sunday.

An Alameda Fire Department rescue boat and swimmers assisted Oakland and San Francisco Fire Department teams at the water rescue.

The victim was pulled from the water and transported to Highland Hospital, where he died.

The taxi had just left Oakland International Airport. Initial reports were that there were two people in the car, but only one victim was found.

A cause of the accident has not been reported.
